What is Blade in the Dark?

Blades in the Dark is a tabletop role-playing game about a crew of daring scoundrels seeking their fortunes on the haunted streets of an industrial-fantasy city. There are heists, chases, occult mysteries, dangerous bargains, bloody skirmishes, and, above all, riches to be had — if you’re bold enough to seize them. (quote from the official site).

This is for any Forged in the Dark?

Yes, more or less... This advice could be good for any Forged in the Dark but some are more broad than others.

Why I wrote about it?

I really LOVE Blades in the Dark. I played, as GM or player, 5 different campaigns and 4 one-shots.
I've discovered that be a GM on Blades in the Dark is easy, but there is a lot of advices that I've collected in some years of actual play and GM.

What do you find inside the document?

The document is an easy list of advice, with some explanation and thought, nothing more nothing less.

Where, when and how did I developed those?

You can find all my suggestions in some form or other also in the manual. The BitD manual is thick, there are a lot of pages so maybe something is really important but you missed to understand how is really mandatory to keep in mind and use it and how.

A good short collection of thoughtful tips for Blades in the Dark GMs! I think it's more useful for newer or starting GMs, but there are some considerations that were thought-provoking for me.

thanks a lot for the post! I wrote the advice with newbie in mind but there is stuff that I elaborate playing a LOT so useful, I hope, for everyone

Great tips from Osiride here. In particular there is an emphasis on asking questions and listening to the answers — the two most important GM skills for any RPG.

Thanks for contributing to the jam!
